Hello everyone,

parallel to our loan agreement, we have received some offers for insurance.
Which ones are useful and required during the construction phase?
Which ones are useful and required after moving in?

And which contract features (e.g., insurance against natural hazards) are recommended?

Thank you in advance

Regards
Julian

Shell fire will be required by your bank as a mandatory condition (of course reasonable), although this is included free of charge for a certain period with a normal residential building insurance (simultaneously take out the complete package fire, storm/hail, LW, elemental). Damage due to gross negligence should be covered in this,
builders' liability insurance (reasonable),
construction all-risk insurance (I would not cut corners on this),
term life insurance at least in the amount of the loan, preferably a bit higher,
private liability insurance (you should have),
glass insurance (reasonable)
household contents, legal protection, occupational disability,...

RLV in the amount of the credit limit - why so high? Or rather, it strongly depends on the distribution of income.

You can insure yourself against everything. But I think risks that don’t make you poor remain uninsured for me. Legal protection, for example. If necessary, I still take a lawyer. In my opinion, premiums and lawyer fees are not in any proportion. For construction, you should have fire coverage for the shell phase, which then transfers to the building insurance after completion and is free until then. Liability insurance for builders is cheap and protects against the consequences of accidents. Such a sign "No trespassing, parents are liable for their children" is of no use in a serious case. Natural hazard damages, well. Where necessary, the risk is extremely expensive; where affordable or cheap, it is unnecessary. K.

Dear Karsten, don’t make it too basic. Recently in Saarland in the village Kleinblittersdorf (you can google it), no one expected such a catastrophe either... for a new house, the premium is really small for this extra. RI-LV is so high because in a serious case even more costs come up and usually you calculate with 2 salaries. There are different types, you can also take one with a decreasing insurance sum, but this should remain constant in the first years. RS and household insurance I just included, although these should be at the bottom of the priority list. If you/you don’t have BU, you should get one.

A declining RLV doesn't cost the world ... otherwise reasonable building insurance. No internet please
