The roof structure for our newly built single-family house is planned as follows:

- Clay tiles
- Wooden battens
- Soft fiber underlay panels 60mm
- Rafter insulation 200mm
- Vapor barrier
- Counter battens from the inside
- Insulation between the counter battens (depending on the thickness of the battens)
- Gypsum plasterboards or similar...

For insulation, a layer of 200 mm thick mineral wool is planned. We have considered "Klemmrock". Does anyone know a better material or any other better solution?

Hello Baukoller,

"better" in what respect? Everyone has their own views on "better": for some it would be a better k-value, others only want natural fibers, ...

But your choice - 035 insulation rock wool - would already be good; there is also 032 glass wool from Isover (so a slightly better insulation value), but whether that would make a noticeable difference is questionable.

Ok, mineral wool is a popular and widely used insulation material today. In terms of thermal value, the Klemmrock or Isover is quite usable. From my point of view, the disadvantage is, what if a roof becomes leaky due to hail damage and the [Unterspannbahn] also gets holes? Then your glass wool soaks up water :) That's why I prefer to use Styropur, which is also available in flame-retardant versions.

Hi Paule, that may be true, but most craftsmen use rock wool, and in combination with Paracell boards, this is also a sensible solution. You always have to be careful with the question of vapor tightness, so everything should be properly sealed here, something that is often and frequently done poorly:cool:

So I find this roof structure quite good. For me, the important thing is the insulation value and moisture protection. I think Klemmrock is a good choice for that.

Hello,

I find this structure already acceptable. I have already worked with this insulation felt from Isover. This 035 Ultimate has already an exceptionally good thermal insulation. This mineral wool is also easy to work with.

Best regards
