Hello,

I would be grateful for practical tips on which garage size is recommended for the following constellation:

-1 vehicle
-4 bikes, 1 Croozer
-Various small scooters etc. for the children
-1 kettle grill
-Lawn mower
-Gardening tools

Attached you can see the covered area between the house and garage that we are envisioning. This way, the second vehicle could also be parked here sometimes, the bikes stored during the day, 1 beer garden table set for grill evenings in bad weather, etc.

What size do you recommend? It would be desirable if the rear part of the garage is somewhat separated for bikes & co. There will be a door on the side to make it easier to get the bikes in and out; you don’t have to squeeze past the car.

So far, we have been offered garages measuring 6x4 meters and 3x7 meters in the offers.

Thanks for your opinions!

I don't think you would be happy with 3x7. 4 wheels and the Croozer alone already need 3x3m and even then it will be quite a maneuvering job.

Better to build 4x6 and set up wheels and equipment on the side at an angle.

Or just have two garages, which would probably be a luxury.

Have some fun and use stones and ropes to mark out the internal dimensions! of the garage shapes and try to fit everything inside. And then realize that there will be walls...

Thank you for your opinion!

That is a good idea with the marking out, we will do that in the garden.

In general, the question arises for me: Does it really have to be [Gemauert]? I still don't quite see the point in paying a not insignificant extra amount for a [gemauerte Garage]... prefab garages aren't that bad after all?

Inquire about prefabricated garages measuring 6x6 meters - they are relatively inexpensive (around €15,000) and offer enough space. (I miss the car in the garage - is there none coming? If not, then a garden shed would probably be cheaper).

We have more or less the same situation and have planned 3 prefabricated garages measuring 3 m x 6 m each. Two are side by side at the front without a middle wall, and behind them one is placed crosswise with a door to the garden and a passage to/from the front part. Whether that will be enough, we will see. I already have an additional garden shed in mind (there is no basement).

3 * 7 basically only has the car in front - if your car is 5 meters long, that leaves 3 * 2 meters for the equipment - it gets tight there.
With 6 * 4 you might be able to put something next to the car - it also depends on whether you can always drive straight in or need space for parking. - But in front of the car, there is not much space left.
We have a wooden garage (self-built) - advantage: you can also build it higher and store things under the ceiling - my tires / bike racks / woods, etc. are all hung on the ceiling.
