Which flooring is suitable for a house hallway

Hello,
we are currently racking our brains about the flooring in the hallway on the ground floor.
Starting point: Except in the bathrooms, we want to lay cork flooring everywhere - we love this material.
Now we have a hallway on the ground floor where you enter directly from the front door. There is then a staircase and access to the bathroom, utility room, living room, and guest room.
Cork is not ideal there because you walk in directly with your muddy shoes (no chance to take them off beforehand). Cork doesn’t hold up so well to that.
We don't really like tiles (especially my wife hates the grout, plus they are cold) and otherwise we can't think of anything sensible.
Do you have any ideas / suggestions?

If sealed cork is not sufficient, a vinyl floor could certainly be a durable alternative.

I have also had good experiences with vinyl flooring, it is not that expensive either. Whether cork is just as useful there, well I don't know. It is probably more for the industry.

The topic is a bit older, but are there any experiences with "softer" floor coverings than tiles in the hallway?

We have tiles - they are quite practical. Alternatively, I do like industrial carpet - the hard, ribbed kind.

We will have vinyl installed everywhere. I can report back once we move in at the end of the year. There is surely already vinyl (or "design" flooring) in cork look.
