Which concrete for house construction?

I am new to the forum and wanted to ask about your experience and opinion on which concrete you would recommend for a solidly built house.
We had actually decided on poroton. But just a few weeks ago, there was a report on TV about poroton, saying that toxins were mixed into it. It is called Wollit. The scandal and the company that mixed/manufactured this Wollit closed in 2012.
My question is whether it is still safe to use poroton or if one should choose a different brick? What alternatives are there? Or something better than poroton?

Poroton is a brick and not concrete in the conventional sense.

My question is whether Poroton can still be used safely or if another brick should be chosen? What alternatives are there? Or something better than Poroton?

I had to think for a moment because something vaguely stirred in the back of my mind.

What you mean is called Woolit (simply put: "ecologically" recycled hazardous waste) and it really shook up the brick industry. Without wanting to defend the industry now, in my opinion they reacted to market demands with this carcinogenic additive in the brick product. Better, but please nicely inexpensive :rolleyes: This insoluble balancing act also attracts bad actors – similar to cartels.

The good news: the manufacturers have canceled this additive and the supply agreements with suppliers and also point this out on their homepages. I am therefore currently convinced that you can have Poroton installed without worries. There are plenty of providers!
