Hello everyone,

I am always in favor of supporting the small trades. But when it comes to building a house, we are (unfortunately) dealing with entirely different amounts, so we are considering what to buy from the craftsman/dealer and what can also be purchased cheaply online. I hope we find a good middle ground.

I would be interested to hear from you what you would definitely buy from the dealer and which items help save the budget when ordered online.

Off the top of my head:

    [*]Ceiling spots
    [*]Interior doors
    [*]Building materials
    [*]Tiles
    [*]Parquet
    [*]Sanitary
    [*]Wood for the stair treads

I would appreciate your experiences. Thank you!

Almost everything is cheaper online... but the question is who will install it and how the warranty is handled.

It is no use, for example, to buy sanitary equipment cheaply and then install it without a warranty...

Why does this persist so stubbornly?
The craftsman cannot exclude the warranty on his work. If he does not want to bear it, he cannot accept the order. The supplier provides a warranty on the material.
In case of damage, however, one can of course end up stuck in the middle and incurs effort.

That's why I wrote: Who installs it then?

Because the plumber can certainly provide a warranty on his work, which then covers up to the wall panel. Now the builder buys a high-end shower panel "cheaply" and has it installed by a friend or does it himself.

If now, half a year later, the place is flooded, who is responsible for the damage?

The contents and/or building insurance. They will then send their appraisers to determine whether the material or work was the fault and will then recover the money from the responsible party.

Finding a good paramedic is already difficult, and if they also add their own stuff, negotiation skills are required. Their offer is usually a mixed calculation; the rest may then become more expensive.
