Real mahogany is on the red list and requires an export permit and is far too expensive for simple boards. Presumably, any tropical wood is sold as mahogany.

Real mahogany comes from America and requires an export permit. Besides that, there are enough subgenera ("fake" mahogany) from Africa.
But it doesn't matter.

Such a cutting board then actually often costs around 100€. And furniture are also "just" boards.

Yes. And sometimes we also go over 100€. That’s why we are considering making one ourselves and to measure!
