Bamboo blooms approximately every 80-130 years and then dies. The last Fargesia bloom was over 20 years ago, so there are at least 60 years left until the next bloom, meaning you don't need to worry that your bamboo will die soon. A Fargesia does not require a rhizome barrier, as it forms clumps. However, if the location is in full sun, a Fargesia (with the exception of the Rufas) will roll up its leaves quite a bit and will also need a lot of water.
