Hello,
we want to start with the terrace next week. We will get 1.2x1.2m ceramic tiles. The terrace will be 9x4.2m.
You can access the terrace level from both the living room and the kitchen through a sliding door. There is a small step of 2cm when the tiles are laid. The terrace is facing west.
The DIN standard requires a rain gutter in front of the sliding doors. I would like to omit that. What slope should the terrace have? 1 or 2%? I am more in favor of 1%. The rest of the property is level. No slope.

Hello, there are good reasons why the gutter is specified in the DIN. Whether 1 or 2 percent slope is irrelevant; it's about standing water, which the gutter is supposed to drain. Believe me, we also have the sliding door facing west, and I am very glad to have the installed gutter.

Hello,

100% understanding at this point!
We also have a size of about 10x4 meters and worked with a 2% slope.
At the latest when you almost daily have to "flush" your terrace because the children dirty everything, you will be happy that the water will almost drain by itself.
At the latest with the first heavy rain - and thunderstorms are getting more intense - you will be glad to have either installed a gutter or to have a proper slope.
You hardly notice the 8 cm height difference.

Specialist associations recommend a 2% slope. 1% is definitely too little. especially if you don't want a channel, there is no such thing as too much slope.

We are currently also working on the terrace, similar in size to yours. We can only do without the gutter on the east side, as it is covered! The smaller terrace on the west side without a roof will definitely have a gutter. I think everything else would be regretted in everyday life and is ultimately not DIN-compliant. In the event of warranty claims or insurance cases, you will be left bearing the costs as it is not professionally executed. Ultimately, I don't find some gutter solutions unattractive at all! Unfortunately, these also cost a lot again, around 300 EUR / meter.

At the big orange DIY store there are drainage channels for a few euros ;-) I installed them, works great.
