What is the space requirement for earthworks in construction with a basement?

Hi, Which space must be taken into account for the excavation pit when building with a basement? In a construction service description, I read "The excavation pit requires a space of at least 4m all around." Does this mean that at least 4m of space must be available next to the excavation pit? Or 4m from the property boundary (with boundary construction) to the outer wall of the planned house? One idea from us is as follows: Width of the property 20m with boundary construction by neighbors on the right and left sides, each with garages. On the right: our garage also boundary construction. Width approx. 6m Left: right of way (for access to the rear property). Middle: House with a width of max. 11m (20m - 6m - 3m). Would the space for the excavation of the pit be possible when building with a basement?

Depends. In the cheaper option, you dig a larger hole with the excavator and slope the side. If necessary, you can also dig steeply and secure it accordingly. It just gets more expensive.

I assume your garage won’t have a basement? Then you can build it after the pit has been backfilled. Is the easement actively used? By how many, and is it possibly possible to make a deal that the access is not usable for a few days?

A part of the excavation pit around the basement is taken up by the slope of the pit, replaceable if necessary by a sheet pile wall, and the workers also need workspace. You must leave the right-of-way corridor clear, also later with the scaffolding.

First, you have to check the soil survey to determine what type of soil you have. Accordingly, the slope angle will be determined. There are requirements for excavation pits from the BG Bau. If you google "C 469" and "BG Bau," you will find a document about it. The most helpful thing I found was: If you google "Böschungswinkel" and "vdri," you will find a PowerPoint PDF by "Ch. Wegener." Pages 19+20 (see screenshot) were great for me to calculate the size of the excavation pit. The calculation would be from the house wall: working space of at least 60 cm (= shoulder width, better: 1 m or more) + width for the slope (labeled "B" in the pictures) + 1 m from the edge of the slope (for walking around and at the same time the "minimum distance of vehicles and construction equipment to slope edges," p. 33 in the PDF).

Addition: With this slope angle information, you can also easily calculate the amount of earth excavation in m³. However, an offer should be obtained and billed based on tons (only with a weigh ticket!).

Thank you very much for all the information. Some of it is very helpful!
So it seems possible, at least if one possibly secures one side with a sheet pile wall, with corresponding additional costs.

Unfortunately, the question regarding the 4m all around (see above) was not answered. Based on the wording, I cannot even tell if this refers to the edge of the excavation pit?!? Then for a 10m wide house, at least the following width would be needed:
10m house
+ 2x1m working area next to the basement
+ 2x2.5m slope
+ 2x4m all around free?
= 25m width required??
