Hello dear members,

Since I am doing the floor construction myself on the advice of my screed layer, I am now slightly overwhelmed in the area of the recess for the front door.

Question:

1. Does the waterproofing membrane need to be extended up to the front steps?

2. According to the screed layer, should the insulation protrude 12 cm into the wall opening for the front door?

3. I should then finish the whole thing with a board. Does the edge strip also have to be applied there? How high should the board be?

Many thanks in advance

Who else but your screed layer should be able to answer that for you? Why did he advise you to do the floor construction yourself? Doesn't he trust your builder to do it???

I thought that the recess for the door frame is a standard procedure? Because laying the waterproofing membrane, Styrofoam, construction foil, and underfloor heating mats is not really hard work and you can save a few euros this way

If you know how to do it, it is certainly not difficult, that is probably true. I would ask the [Estrichleger] what he needs and prepare it accordingly.

I know the insulation runs twelve centimeters into the door recess and then has to be closed off with a board. Just the question whether the edge insulation strip should also be laid against the board? And what happens with the moisture barrier? I can't reach the screed installer by phone and would like to finish this so that I can lay the PE foil

"Thinking" usually amounts to extremely uncertain guesses or assumptions! Just take a look at the detailed planning, the problem should actually be solved there! Regards
