Hello

We have 43dH in the community and are unsure about a softening system that would reduce it to about 20dH while complying with the sodium limit (far from soft).

Our home construction company would install a system for €3,700, whereas my father (plumber) could install one for €1,600.

Unfortunately, we are not allowed to install the system ourselves until 5 years after moving in and after the warranty period has expired...

What would you do?

Move in and install. Hard water is not necessarily the best friend of pipes, valves, pumps, etc.

Did you sign a gagging contract? Who forbids you? What are you allowed to do in the first years at all? Install it and that’s it!

good question

Our contract states that the warranty for the entire sanitary installation expires if there is any intervention in the installation within the first 5 years... and this includes the integration of a water softening system

Is there no possibility to have a preparation (Verschneidearmatur) installed by your house construction company and then connect the softening system yourself after moving in? It should normally not cost much and you do not interfere with the sanitary installation.

unfortunately no. That was exactly my suggestion as well, but either you take the system completely or not at all. Only the socket and drain are prepared...

Do you think the difference between 43dH and 22dH will be noticeable? Sodium would then be at the limit of 200 if we soften to 20dH.
