Hello dear ones,

our town villa has had the windows installed for a few weeks now. Today we happened to notice that there was water inside the window frames (inside) on the upper floor everywhere. It seems to have been there for a while because the drilling chips (or whatever, see photo) are already rusted. It’s only at the windows on the upper floor. Everything downstairs is dry. Do you have any idea? Pressure too low? Water coming through the ventilation slots on the windows?

Thanks!

In my opinion, not bad at all and quite normal. The water rains on the window, frame, and rubber and finds its way. And where the water is in your picture, there is only one way, namely back outside through the water drainage / ventilation slots...

Thank you for your feedback! It rained quite heavily briefly yesterday. But where is the water coming in from? I thought the rubber seals were supposed to prevent that. Possibly through the ventilation slots then? And what also surprises me is that it is only like that on the upper floor. At almost all windows (also on all sides that are not "weather sides"). Have never seen standing water inside the frame before. :-(

The water just sits there then and eventually it will mold?!

Do you have a controlled residential ventilation system? Surely otherwise you would have discovered the defect earlier. The fact that water is standing there is not normal and should be urgently corrected.

First of all, wipe away the water to rule out that it did not come in from the rain through an open window.

Then continue to observe whether it was only the enormous building moisture.

If it is still wet then have the controlled residential ventilation system adjusted.

Unfortunately, I have the same feeling. I haven’t seen that anywhere yet.

We don’t have controlled residential ventilation and are still in the shell stage. The roof is not completely closed yet. Drywall is not installed.

Rain through open windows can be 100% ruled out.

We already sent the window installer an email with the photos. Let’s see what he says. This is really annoying me right now.

That will not be the last defect... All the things that are visible to laypeople are yet to come. So be nice and factual when talking to the window builder. Maybe also try holding a water jet on it to see if it really comes from outside or if it has just been standing there for a while?
