Hello,

...or the egg-laying-wool-milk-sow...

We are looking for a stylish (soapstone) stove for our yet-to-be-built new house (planning not yet completed; construction not yet started!) that helps to heat the buffer tank.

Location centrally in the living room of almost 40 sqm, connected to the open kitchen of 13 sqm and a play/guest room (with a large sliding door) of almost 13 sqm.

We like the Tuliviki Hiisi 4 with W10 heat exchanger system (water-based) connected to a buffer tank along with solar thermal collectors to a gas heating system. Approximate living area 230 sqm.

Do you have experience with water-based soapstone stoves?

Best regards Barossi

Moin Moin

I really like such heating systems.
However, it should be considered that the ratio of heat output on the room side and water side is roughly the same as the ratio of living area to installation room.

Hi Olli,

unfortunately, you can't find anything about the heat output on the water side. Also, there are no reports about heavy soapstone stoves with water heat exchangers in low-energy houses.

Best regards, Barossi

Hello again

I have not installed a water-bearing soapstone stove like that yet
but here are a few thoughts about it:
in a new building with good insulation and slow underfloor heating, I do not imagine a heat generator that
also significantly delivers heat into the living room to be advantageous.
If you want to use the stove regularly, I would consider foregoing the gas heating. For the winter vacation, possibly an electric heating element. Or a pellet stove!?

Hello, I also considered using a heat exchanger in the chimney. But then the following thought came up: What if the power goes out and the pump cannot transport the heat from the chimney/heating circuit??? Then you have no power and can't even use the good old chimney and are completely left in the cold...
