As a standard, cold is on the right and warm on the left.

If there were no specifications and he installed the standard ... you! Sounds harsh but that's how it is. If you don’t tell the car manufacturer that you want to drive the car in England, your steering wheel will also be on the right.

If the standard left is hot and the plumber did it backwards everywhere... quite strange.

No idea.. I did write "if". At least I only know it that way, that on all faucets hot water is on the left.

Quickly googled and found the following in a forum:

According to e.g. DIN 1988-200, version 2012-05, chapter 6.5 Draw-off fittings, 2nd paragraph.
"For draw-off fittings for cold and heated drinking water arranged side by side or above each other, the connection to the drinking water installation for heated drinking water is to be arranged on the left or top. ..."

Since the DIN is nowhere freely available, I cannot guarantee its accuracy.
It should certainly be checked whether the execution planning indicates otherwise.
