Hello community, I have a question...
We are currently building a house and are in the final stages. Now it's about the wall design. We plan to cover all walls with smooth painter's fleece wallpaper and paint over it twice in white. Upstairs, the ceiling was made with drywall and filled. Now I was told that I could skip the painter's fleece on the drywall ceiling and that the paint would be enough.

What do you think? Can I really skip the tedious work with a clear conscience? I am very grateful for any tips!

Best regards

To which quality level was it skimmed? So Q3 or Q4?
And is that enough for "smooth"? Even with grazing light?

It depends on your own standards. It is not necessary to do it.

Don’t forget the primer before the painter’s fleece.

Walls and ceilings are filled to Q2. However, I sanded the walls and ceilings smooth for 2 days with a long sander and a fine grit. Thank you for the note about the primer. I already have that on my radar.

For a drywall ceiling, Knauf joint tape Kurt is applied to the joints, that's really the name. Actually, when spackling, it is applied into the wet spackle. This prevents cracks in the joint area. The wall connections are taped on the wall with Tesakrepp, spackled over, then the tape is removed; this creates a deliberate joint. You can leave it like this or seal it with acrylic; it's a matter of preference. A wall in Q2 can, but does not have to, be covered with fleece. This depends on the requirement. Primer must always be used. There is gel-like product available that can be applied with a roller instead of a brush. It is faster and cleaner. Karsten

Thanks for the tips! I will probably also cover the ceiling with painter's fleece. Then I'll have a complete job. In the little room, I'll try it without first. Let's see how it looks.

Make a secondary room, the utility room for example, unnecessary. Then you can see if it is good enough for you. Karsten
