Wallpaper the stairwell or better plaster it?

Soon we will start the interior finishing, specifically plastering and wallpapering. I want to do both myself and have already chosen certain products. Only in the hallway I still have doubts. Do you use woodchip wallpaper there or is plaster better? I suspect the walls in the hallway are subjected to more stress and get dirty more easily. So plaster is better after all? What did you use in your place?

You are right in your assumption that a stairwell is subject to greater wear; cracks in wallpaper are immediately noticeable there. I would recommend plaster; it is also easier to repair.

The house renovation is also due for me. The stairwell will be replastered and wallpaper is inappropriate here. At first, I thought of fiberglass wallpaper, but I discarded this idea again because these are long strips. That is not so easy.

I want to do it myself as well and I think it will be a flock plaster.

Hello,

Quite clearly, plaster the staircase. The wallpaper is a lot of hard work and woodchip wallpaper wears out quickly. I applied a textured plaster and with that I have peace for several years.

Best regards

I applied a textured plaster. At first, I wanted to plaster with the trowel, but I didn’t manage that. I applied this textured plaster with the roller, and that worked quite well.

Only in the corners were there minor problems. I couldn’t quite reach there with the roller. I then took care of that with a brush.

We also have textured plaster and it has lasted for 7 years and still looks absolutely good. So I can only recommend it.
