Hello, I am planning to look for an apartment in Bonn in the distant future, which will also be my first own apartment. In this context, I would like to know whether it is generally allowed to make holes in door frames and walls, or if rental contracts usually prohibit such things. Thanks in advance for any answers :)

It's a pity that no one could help me. If it helps with the answer, the apartment we are moving into is an energy-efficient house that is only a few years old. Accordingly, I am careful about damages and drilling.

Hello,

Wall drilling is definitely allowed and as many as you need (hanging kitchen / shelves / pictures).

Of course, you shouldn't make the apartment full of holes and after the end of the tenancy you must close all holes and of course remove the plugs.

You should also make sure that when you drill into tiles (e.g. bathroom) you use the grout lines if possible.

Hello,
the statement about filling the holes is incorrect. Drill holes are allowed in a normal scope as many as you need and you do not have to fill them again when moving out! Exception: If the rental agreement includes cosmetic repairs upon termination of the tenancy, then these holes must also be filled again.

By the way: I am also allowed to drill directly in the middle of a tile, and these holes do not need to be filled in the first case.
