Hello everyone,
I now have two window offers, which have come into my personal shortlist:

[*]One is a Kömmerling profile with two rubber seals and 6 mm laminated safety glass (VSG), and
[*]the other is a Gealan profile with three seals, of which the middle one is a fixed plastic sealing strip. I personally prefer this model because of the additional burglary protection and because it has three instead of two seals. Unfortunately, the GEALAN is somewhat more expensive.

The Uw-value of both windows averages 0.81.

Now my question about the glass:
The Kömmerling profile has 6 mm laminated safety glass (VSG) for the ground floor windows and the GEALAN profile has P4A glazing. Are these both the same or can they be compared? Does P4A stand for 4 mm or what? I have even read online that you should choose P5A+ if anything. Or is a P4A or also a 6 mm laminated safety glass sufficient for RC2 fittings?

Unfortunately, we cannot carry out installation according to RC2 due to roller shutter boxes.

What do you think?
Thanks for your answers

Here is a picture of the middle strip, which I quite like (photo from gealan.de):

P4A is a resistance class that requires anti-burglary glazing. This is achieved with laminated safety glass (VSG), not with tempered safety glass (ESG).
It would therefore be worth asking whether the P4A glazing in offer 2 is also made in 6mm, as it will be VSG one way or another in order to meet P4A.

Central sealing (MD) is better than just stop sealing (AD). I myself have "only" AD and have not missed anything so far. No water in the profile, no drafts. But maybe it will look different in 10 years.

Okay, I will probably ask about that then. I also believe that the aforementioned GEALAN S9000 Plus has a rebate seal. It has a total of 3 seals and the middle one is also a fixed strip. So you can't easily get a screwdriver under the window, right?

The Kömmerling windows only have two seals. But I also think they are like the GEALAN, i.e. AD.

The question is how laminated safety glass is specified in the offer. The 6mm will probably be both panes together, right (3mm + foil + 3mm)? So it will probably be something like this:

VSG 33.1 P1A 3mm 0,38mm 3mm
VSG 33.2 P2A 3mm 0,76mm 3mm

The P4A is specified like this and would, according to my understanding, be stronger:

VSG 44.4 P4A 4mm 1,52mm 4mm

Where does the need for VSG and high coverage come from? In my opinion, wasted money.

Well, depends on the area.

The worse the location, the higher the need for security? Poor OP
