Hello everyone,

I have just a quick question.

We are building a wooden house with a ventilation system. On the ground floor, we have an exposed ceiling. The paneling is about 20mm thick. The ventilation ducts will be laid on top of it.

Is it absolutely necessary to install some kind of insulation mat underneath? In some houses you can see it, in others not. I haven't found any information about this online?!

Thank you very much in advance!

It's the same with us. Unfortunately, you didn't get an answer - perhaps you have one for us now anyway? [emoji4]

Good morning Stefan,

Yes, I have! Basically, it is no problem at all that the pipes lie directly on the floor. We hear absolutely no noises. However, if you still have the possibility to put something underneath, it doesn’t hurt either.

Are you also building a complete wooden house? How is the ceiling composed on your end? Which screed do you use?

We also have the pipes directly on the wooden ceiling. Our ceiling construction is drywall (double-layered), insulation, and then the wooden board to which the pipes are attached. These then lie in the insulation on which the screed is then applied.

Had no problems with it in any form.
