Good evening,

two weeks ago the insulation was installed between the rafters and the vapor barrier above it was attached. It was stapled to the rafters. Shouldn't these areas also be sealed with Siga Sicrall?

I was told that this was partially done in passive houses. In our non-subsidized house, the blower door test was also very good even without taping.

Basically yes, because moisture can penetrate there and then almost into the rafter or past the rafter into the insulation, especially if the stapled areas tear off or rip open. Nowadays, the more elegant hole-free solution is actually the double-sided adhesive variant, a narrow double adhesive strip is applied to the rafter and then the foil is fixed onto it. That's how we did it at my place, it worked wonderfully, quickly, cleanly, and without holes. At the same time, this is also supposed to have the advantage that the screws of the subsequently installed load-bearing battens are sealed by screwing into this adhesive mass.

But honestly, I don't think there are any problems unless it is in a proper wet room, if the stapled areas are not subsequently sealed.

Sorry, if you write the foil on the rafters, then it is an underlay membrane that protects the insulation from moisture from the outside. (Here there is a regulation for the use of nail sealing tapes between the counter battens and the underlay membrane) Not the vapor barrier which is installed on the inside of the rafters.

No, it is really the vapor retarder. The USB is on the outside and the vapor retarder on the inside. [emoji1]
