Hello! I have to submit the electrical planning for a new apartment. A UTP connection is standard. The electrician has planned it in the living room. What is the connection for? I will have wireless internet and no TV. Who can help me with this cable? Do I possibly have to plan for several connections of this kind? Thanks in advance for your tips :-) Oh yes, the internet router is planned to be in the utility room. It is about an apartment of 90m2

According to Wikipedia, this is the umbrella term for Twisted Pair cables = LAN cables.

You should probably lay one from the utility room towards the planned TV spot and possibly another one from the utility room to where you might want to use a fixed LAN connection someday .. perhaps the two bedrooms. Ideally, use Cat 7 cables right away .. equipped for the future.

Thank you for your reply. What do you need a fixed LAN connection for? For a network printer or something like that, for example?

For an access point to improve the WLAN, for all devices that need a stable connection, NAS, Pi, etc.

Sorry, Malz1902. I don't understand anything from your post. What is an Accesspoint, what is a NAS, what is a PI and which device do you mean?

Guys, I am asking the question here because I can't do anything with technology. I am not familiar, and compared to other people, I have antique technology at home (my laptop is 10 years old). I just don't understand posts like the one from Malz. It would be great if you could explain all this a little bit.

Accesspoint = AccessPoint, if your router is in the utility room and you are sitting in the living room, you might barely have Wi-Fi depending on how many walls and distance are in between. To improve your Wi-Fi, you can connect an AccessPoint at certain locations via a network cable. The best place for an AccessPoint is always on a ceiling, for example in a hallway. A NAS is a storage device in the network where you can store data.
