I take that personally, I'm not actually that old... Otherwise, I agree with your post 100%. However, when searching for and commissioning local craftsmen, I am usually on a lonely post even among acquaintances. The others only (!) choose based on price...

It is not just seeming, it is very large. Especially in Turkey, you have to look very carefully at the furniture, there are definitely significant quality differences.

I visit my family in Turkey 2-3 times a year and I would never even think of buying furniture unseen, especially a kitchen.

For 20% savings, I would not put myself through the stress (especially as a foreigner), who communicates in case of questions, who takes care of complaints, and how is a warranty/guarantee case supposed to be handled etc. It has never been worth the savings to me.
