Import turnover tax is normal, it doesn't only exist for cars.

That is not correct. VAT is always paid only once within the EU. Example: a ship for 100,000 euros net. Shipyard NL. Buyer German. One decides whether the acceptance and payment including BTW, that is the name for VAT there, take place in the Netherlands or acceptance in Germany and taxation here. Same goes for cars, for everything. Karsten
