Hey,

how did you (or did you not) make the transition from the wall to the ceiling?

Did anyone use moldings there, is that still done or just nothing, especially since there is sometimes a small gap visible where the ceiling meets the walls?

This small gap is the [kellenschnitt] and it should be there. It can be closed with acrylic before painting/wallpapering.

Ah thanks. There's even a term for that... I'm amazed...

The painters told me that acrylic goes on after the wallpaper. We did it that way too and then I just painted over it normally.

In some spots there are small cracks, but right now settlement cracks are appearing everywhere anyway, so the order probably doesn't make a difference.

From earlier threads on this topic, I know that there are still many advocates of the decorative moldings. Advocates in the sense that the version with acrylic is rather seen as sloppy work.

It is certainly not that but rather standard. Whether any trim improves the appearance is mainly a matter of taste. Technically, the trowel cut with acrylic fulfills the task just as well.

Do you definitely put acrylic in there? Even with decorative trim?
