My toilet cistern continuously leaks water. It is only a small amount, but it drips around the clock. I have now removed the cover plate from the cistern (brand: Geberit), but honestly, I don't understand it. What do I need to do to seal the system again? Do I need to call a plumber for something like this?

If water is constantly running, a seal in the tank is leaking or the float no longer works properly. The float is a component in the flush tank (you should see it if you remove the lid) that is connected to the valve via a lever mechanism; as the water in the flush tank rises again, the float also rises and the valve is closed via the lever construction. Possibly something is calcified or stuck.

I had exactly the same problem and for me it was also the float. Thanks for the help :)

That can be done by oneself and it is not much work. Something like that happens to us from time to time as well. Often the float gets stuck here and that is quickly repaired. If I had to call a company every time, I would already be poor.

Such a leaking toilet cistern that constantly runs is really annoying. It drives the water costs up and then there’s always that noise. It’s already happening to us too and every time it’s due to the float.

Fortunately, this only happens rarely, but that was also the swimmer. He got stuck and I was able to free him again without difficulty.
