The price increases apparently are always threatened at the end of the year... the contract numbers are supposed to be correct by 12/31?

I thought increases always happen around February/March [emoji848]

They are not that ominous after all! Construction costs increase by 5-10% annually

Price increases are threatened year-round in the discussions. For us, it was once at the turn of the year and once in March/April. Why do you think that is? [emoji6]

Is there a source for the 5-10%? I think that's very much. I have always read about 3%, without being able to name a source now.

Federal Statistical Office:

The construction prices for new construction of residential buildings using conventional construction methods (including value-added tax) increased by 2.1% on average in 2016 compared to 2015.

The % increase doesn't matter but they are rising.

And 3% on a house for 300k is quickly 10k as well

No, the rate of increase is not irrelevant. (Unless one’s own estimate was significantly off)

2% of 300,000 EUR = 6,000 EUR. That’s why you shouldn’t get worked up when buying a house or be pressured by the seller to close quickly.

At 5 - 10%, theoretically 100,000 EUR in additional costs the following year, the situation would look very different.

The 2% is a nationwide value; regionally, it can of course also vary upwards.
