Terrace level with the ground? Or with a step?

Hello, we are currently wondering whether we should have our terrace paved at ground level?

The Tiefblauer said it would be okay since you create a slope away from the house, and a grate/drain right in front of the doors.

I'm just afraid it won't be watertight, that's why I originally mentally decided on a (uglier) step solution.

What do you think?

If you mean a step down from the living room to the terrace: personally, I would never do that. A step down from the terrace to the lawn, on the other hand, I like.

I agree with Maria16. Only one step if it is unavoidable. Otherwise, step-free access to the terrace.

Step. Always a step at every door. When it really pours and storms or there's deep snow, you are on the safe side.

I did or would do exactly the opposite; if the terrace first goes down 20 cm all around, that's just annoying...

At what height are the ventilation openings in the brick facade located?

Are there connections for the drainage channels near the terrace doors?
The connections run - at least with Aco - vertically downwards for 100mm KG pipes, so this may have to be routed somewhat awkwardly around corners via corner elements in front of the floor slab. The corner elements are only available from Aco as plastic corner elements instead of polymer concrete.

With EPDM membranes and EPDM adhesive, the sealing should be very well and durably constructed or already in place.
