You are only the owner once the land register has been updated (Auflassung). Before that, you are merely the possessor. Seems strange to me, though, why you are receiving property tax assessments. I thought those only go to the owner.

... or was the real estate TRANSFER tax meant? The assessment is indeed sent to the buyer...

No property tax. The land register simply does not exist yet and the Berlin authorities take forever for it. However, there is a priority notice of conveyance.

We also received the property tax assessment long before the [Grundbuch] was updated.
