Hello everyone, we will soon be building an end-of-terrace house. We are currently preparing the building application. As our architect informed us, we have to infiltrate the rainwater. Possible options are a [Muldenversickerung] or a [Rigolenversickerung]. We have approximately 200 sqm of land, of which about 140 sqm is for the house. Our garden will have a length of 10m and be about 5.5 meters wide. I have only just started to deal with this topic. We want to keep the costs low and have as little effort as possible with it. What is feasible and recommended for this plot between these two options? And when is the right time to do this?
The builder himself says only the following: "The wastewater pipes inside the house will be laid with the required diameters. All drainage pipes will be routed from the building by the shortest way, namely below the basement ceiling or the base plate. The drainage pipes for wastewater and rainwater located outside the building and the installation of an inspection shaft as well as their connection to the sewer or to a [Rigole] to be constructed on site are, as far as the sewer connection is already on the property and in proper condition, included in the scope of services up to a length of 7 meters (distance from building to connection)."
We know that a [Rigolenversickerung] must also be additionally approved by the lower water authority.
I look forward to your suggestions. Thank you and best regards.

Trench, because you won't see it afterwards and the area remains usable. A depression is just a depression... You will certainly have to budget around 3K€.

correct, a basin is junk and looks awful. usually it's too small or the property doesn't allow it. if you're unlucky it rains harder, the basin can't handle it and then overflows to the neighbor, who will immediately bring the lawyer including claims for damages because of water from you on his terrace... soakaways are just a couple of "plastic domes" that are buried. just take 1-2 more with it and you'll never have trouble again. keep in mind that the system should be big enough right away for later retrofits like a garden house or terrace with drainage, etc... it also doesn't hurt to roughly lay the pipes right away. pipes cost nothing... ps: this has nothing to do with wastewater... pps: correct, you have to get approval for the drainage. the sizing of the system is also required. this is normal but already included in the building notification/approval.

Thanks so much for your input. How is it with the schedule? When will the [Rigole] be built? Is it actually at the end when the garden, terrace, etc. are also done, or already during the construction phase? Thanks and best regards

Timewise, a matter of taste.
It also depends on whether the garden will be done soon.

Presumably, the soakaway trench will be quite large in terms of the excavation pit. It might make sense to have it done together with the excavation for the basement/foundation slab. The excavator there is big enough. Depending on the size of the garden, the landscaper will probably use a smaller excavator and may then potentially have problems with the excavation for the soakaway.
Some landscapers no longer handle topics like water/sewage/rainwater pipes for warranty reasons.
