Just recently, I was asked about our monolithic construction method with only 24 cm aerated concrete blocks (without underfloor heating, small solar thermal system, 148 sqm) and how high our heating costs are. I had calculated up to 1600 euros, as consumption is supposed to be higher in the first years in a new building. And just now I saw that we consumed less than 10,000 kWh last year and are therefore easily 900 euros below the estimate.

We always keep it quite warm, and we’ve only had electric/programmable thermostats for 4 weeks.

What is your consumption like? I really can’t explain why it is so low for us.

Mind you, we never had any problems with too high humidity. It has been in the normal range from the start.

Best regards

So with 1600€ you have calculated quite a lot.. what kind of KfW do you have?

We have e.g. 250m2 heated area and about 80 euros per month including hot water, with Kfw 70

We have the Energy Saving Ordinance 2016, which I believe also corresponds to KfW 70.

Yes, maybe it was calculated too generously. I tried to get an initial impression beforehand and rarely read about less than 15,000 kWh. And since our wall thickness is so thin and it is a new building, I didn’t want to be unpleasantly surprised.

But maybe on the internet you just come across cases where consumption is abnormally high much more often...

May I ask which 24 cm aerated concrete block you used? It’s surprising that with that you met the energy saving ordinance. Or are there other measures?

We have a 42.5 cm Ytong and the monthly gas installment has settled at €49/month for 2 years. 155 m² including [zentrale Lüftungsanlage]. Except for the bedrooms, about 21.5 - 22 degrees in the house.

Nice to see once again someone showing that gas [aktuell] is an affordable heating/hot water solution.

For 160sqm heating and hot water, we pay €500-600 p.a., don’t ask me now about the kWh number ...
