Hello!

We have filled about 40-50cm of frost protection for our terrace. Now I am considering the installation. Can these adjustable pedestals be placed directly on the compacted frost protection? Maybe a weed fleece in between? The plan is to use 60x60cm porcelain tiles.

I would like the terrace to have no slope, since there is also a cold winter garden on the terrace, and due to the sliding doors it must not have a slope. This would result in a height difference away from the house. With a 2% slope over 4 meters, that is at least 8cm. With pedestals, water can run into the joints and drain into the substructure.

What I also like about the construction is that individual tiles can be removed later and the height can be readjusted if the substructure settles somewhat.

You put plates under the pedestals. You can also use these simple edge concrete stones for this (2.50 euros at the hardware store). Only place them punctually under the pedestals, not over the entire area. Be sure to lay weed control fabric underneath; the sheets of the fabric should overlap properly.

And why add plates underneath? Nothing should happen with compacted material, right?

I have already asked specialized companies here, but they seem to have little to no experience with pedestals.

Because the "Splitt" you have on it works a bit. The terrace could move a little, but since it should look nice for a long time, you can counteract that.

If my canopy is finally built, then I'll start with my floor. I'll gladly show you pictures if I don't forget.
