Studwork as wall extension

Strange idea, but I want to do this soon as a "Do it Yourself". I have an L-shaped living room. This L bothers me, so I have decided to create a kind of enclosed small quiet room at the end of the L, where I simply extend the wall. I don't want to build walls because I don't have my wife's permission for that. Now I was thinking about a stud frame. Lightweight construction, battens, screws, drywall, nothing more. But will that work? Maybe someone has an alternative suggestion?

You can easily extend the wall with the stud wall. At my home, we have also divided two rooms like that. You can fill the drywall later and maybe apply some plaster on it. It looks really great when you add a bit of color.
