It's about a very simple garden shed. Its roof is covered with tiles and is leaking. Now a new roof is to be installed:
Rafters (spacing approx. 60 cm)
OSB board on the rafters
Roofing felt on the OSB board
Battens on the OSB board
Concrete roof tiles
The shed is finished(!)
The person who wants to carry this out proposes OSB boards with a thickness of 12 mm. That seems quite thin to me. I would be concerned that they might bend under the weight of the concrete roof tiles over time.
What do the experts think (just from gut feeling)? Is 12 mm sufficient or is 15 or even 18 mm better?
Thank you very much!
Melanie
PS: Please no suggestions (even if well meant) that the construction is wrong anyway, or that one should rather use clay roof tiles, or whatever... I am really only interested in the assessment of the thickness of the OSB boards.
