Good day,

in the next two days our strip foundation including the foundation earth conductor will be constructed.
However, I am not entirely sure if everything is executed correctly and would like to hear your opinions on this.

The trenches are dug as far as possible. Today the concrete workers laid a dimpled membrane on the bottom of the trench. I think as a blinding layer? Then the reinforcement cages were placed in. The foundation earth conductor was laid as flat steel inside the reinforcement cages and was not connected with the individual cages. Is the lateral connection (there is a dimpled membrane underneath) of the strip foundation, in which the earth conductor is embedded, sufficient for a conductive connection with the ground?
Is there any objection to embedding empty conduit pipes for cables inside the reinforcement cages into the strip foundations?

Thank you very much for your answers.

Regards

I am not quite following, what kind of lateral connection exists now? Do you possibly have a white/black tank and accordingly a ring earth electrode and no foundation earth electrode? A foundation earth electrode must definitely be firmly connected.

Conduit, you can do that but remember that you have to properly seal the conduits, have the appropriate wall penetrations concreted in at the same time; I would rather do that than just one pipe. Otherwise, later on, drill through, insert the wall penetration, and seal it.

Oh, so it is probably more of a ring earth electrode, yes. It is laid as a ring in the strip footing, and a 10mm V4A round steel is connected to it and laid to the potential equalization busbar. I do not have a complete black tank. I have a dimpled membrane under the strip footing and receive perimeter insulation under the base slab. I believe that thus the only part touching the soil is the sides of the strip footing.

What does your electrician say about the grounding? He must sign off on the grounding at the end. Photo documentation is important.

That is exactly where the problem lies. I am a trained electrician and do the electrical work myself. However, when I worked as an electrician back then, I never paid attention to the execution of the grounding system because our scope always started at the potentiometer rail. Twenty years ago, it was the responsibility of the concrete worker to create the grounding system. And protocols with measurements were not really common at that time. Since I want to document and measure everything properly, my question is how the grounding system is correctly executed.
