Good day,
we are currently considering whether we might build on my parents' property if we get the permits. We would then like to build a modular house. The problem is that the property, where we would build, has an extremely steep slope. Therefore, we thought about using steel supports like those in the picture as a foundation. However, we have no knowledge of this at all. I can't find anything about it on Google. What are such constructions called and what should be considered, or what does something like this even cost? I hope someone here has some knowledge:

Unfortunately not, but off the top of my head, I see a very decent architect/structural engineer fee and a lot of fun with the requirements regarding thermal insulation.

That's exactly what I fear... are there any other cost-effective ways to build on an extreme slope without having to remove the entire slope?

Yes. Make a virtue out of necessity and build a floor into the slope, because the earth has to go away anyway. So you can create living space right there and save a floor "upwards" for it. That is ultimately the appeal of a hillside property. Cheap, of course, is something else.

"other possibilities" implies that what is shown in the photo would be a possibility at all. But it is not. If these supports were actually part of a point foundation concept, there would also be a rocky substrate involved. In reality, they are more likely optical spacers between an apparently floating house and its buried foundation – they cannot replace it. This stilt gimmick probably costs about as much as the structure above in the shell construction. It is more likely that a snowball is suitable as a grill lighter than combining cost-effectiveness and extreme slope.

What is extreme? Show a photo or measurements.
