Hello everyone,
I am looking for tips, information, and good ideas regarding a rather tricky question, maybe someone can help me.
In short, I am looking for a good solution to cover or clad our newly built concrete staircase. The plan was originally to coat the staircase (which is already installed) with Beton Cire. Long story short, for various family and professional reasons, we didn’t deal enough with the topic, were too trusting, and in the end were misadvised by the staircase builder. Beton Cire is now out because our stair steps are 3cm lower than the final height, meaning I need 3cm build-up height.
I have several ideas by now and hope for your opinions or experiences:
1. Stair build-up with construction boards, laminate glued on top with F-profile strips. My opinion is that this will be very complicated, the staircase is spiral.
2. Tiling the staircase, I think I lack skills in tiling, probably more for advanced users.
3. Stair build-up with construction boards, Beton Cire on top. But will it hold on the boards in the long run?
4. Gluing stair steps made of 3cm thick wood. I think this is the most sensible solution but what about the price? And which wood? Oak?
And yes, as it is with homeowners, of course we also have to watch the money a bit.
Do you have any tips or feedback??
Many thanks, Florian
