Hello,
I want to install stainless steel water pipes in the new building.
We have hard water, pH value 7.67.
What are the disadvantages of stainless steel if you disregard the price, the more complex installation, and possibly nickel?
Best regards, Peter

I would not do it. With V2a, pitting corrosion can occur in pipes with flow, especially of warm water. V4a grades are certainly safe but very, very expensive. The PVC pipes are safe, inexpensive, and easy to install. Why absolutely stainless steel? K.

I could be wrong, but aren't the stainless steel pipes with press fittings (e.g. Mapress) always made of V4A? I can't think of any disadvantage off the top of my head, except for the higher price due to the higher material value and more complex installation.

Strange that you ask about the disadvantages and don’t seem to be interested in the advantages.

There are both va qualities in sales. It may be that 4 a is more common, definitely safer. But why! PE pipes are good after all.

Some people don’t like plastic
Stainless steel is more durable.

You might like it. Some people simply prefer to spend a bit more money on a higher-quality material. Whether you really need it, everyone has to decide for themselves
