You can also just use a regular spirit level and put a long straight board against it. If the level is straight, the board is straight too. It depends on what you plan to do.

I agree with you. A hose level is really very precise. I hadn’t kept it in mind recently because I tend to use the laser more. Another advantage of the hose level is that it is reliable even in very bright light.
