hi,

in my bedroom there is a fixed carpet that is already very worn out and no longer looks nice at all. now I want to tear out this carpet and lay a wooden floor. my question is whether I should choose solid wood planks or prefinished wood parquet. do you have some suggestions for me to make my decision easier?

best regards,

Solid wood floorboards

Hello,
whether engineered parquet or floorboard also depends on the subfloor. Floorboards are usually mounted on battens (squared timber). This naturally results in a much higher floor construction. Engineered parquet is (with some exceptions) installed floating.
Durability and ease of maintenance depend less on floorboard or parquet than on the type of wood and the surface.

Hello,

Floorboards can certainly also be laid floating directly and do not necessarily require a substructure; there are indeed various manufacturers for this.
Rather, the question is what is pleasing and what is desired.
Floorboard look is also available with engineered parquet of the same thickness, i.e., 2- or 3-layer.
Real floorboards are raw when laid and should be treated after installation, engineered parquet and also floorboard look are finished after installation.

It's best to get advice from a floor layer on site, who will also know the subfloor and can show you samples.
