Solid wood house - Various offers are available

The multi-layered construction has advantages. Better sound insulation due to the separation (especially with the option of insulation inserted in between)..also the topic of being free of thermal bridges is 100% ensured there.

We ourselves are currently working on a solid wood house for our mother at passive house level.

My "ex-house" is a wooden house from Stommel Haus. These are 9.5 cm log boards on both the inside and outside with wood fiber insulation panels in between. So more or less a solid wooden wall.

Unfortunately, this method of construction is no longer offered. Apparently, it was no longer profitable; the market simply wasn't there.

Clear advantage: the living climate!
Disadvantage: high maintenance.

Also, depending on the surface treatment of the interiors, you sometimes feel like a woodworm. We compensated for this back then with very high rooms and an open design.
However, I would not want to build like that again – despite the brilliant room climate!

Furthermore, it was not exactly a bargain. The thick wooden walls have to be paid for.
However, in terms of workmanship and cooperation with Stommel Haus back then (move-in was 2006), it was top!
