Solid oak plank with cold-structured surface, naturally oiled

I urgently need help with a difficult decision for us. We would like to equip our living room, dining room, and office with an oak solid plank (designation Pios Meisterstücke Visari-Inntal). The plank is solid 21 mm, as grown, special surface structurally limed, naturally oiled. The look is a vintage look, in which the grain appears white.

We do not have underfloor heating. However, we have 2 terraces at the living room, expect a baby, and have a large dog (my parents also have a dog that completely scratched the lacquered parquet within a year).

In total, this means a certain load in the entrance area to the living room, at the door to the office, at the spot of the office chair, and at the terrace doors. The dog goes alone for the last round in the garden in the evening to pee, so wet paws are possible in rare cases. Dog and child will occasionally bring in dirt.

I have spoken with 2 experts. The seller says no problem, the material will be chemically cleaned and re-oiled. Dog scratches are not visible. Paths will not really be seen due to the care (once a week). However, it cannot be sanded. The material would be very low maintenance.

However, a competitor has said the complete opposite as an expert. Quick wear marks, dirt settles into the grain, hard to keep clean, scratches on the surface...

Has anyone here had experience that strongly confirms one of these statements?

We have larch old, white oiled and textured almost throughout the whole house. Since we haven’t lived in our house for very long yet, I unfortunately cannot share any long-term experiences with you. The good thing about these textured floors is that scratches don’t look disturbing because the surface isn’t smooth.

Our floor is definitely more delicate than the one you want because larch is known to be softer than oak. But the scratches on our floor don’t bother us; it fits the style of the country house planks... Our floor is extremely easy to maintain... that means if paint or dirt gets into the grooves, it is harder to remove than on a smooth surface—that’s clear—but otherwise, we only need to mop our new floor once every two weeks with a damp cloth because you can hardly see the dirt :). We previously had a white tiled floor and had to mop it damp every 2-3 days... so from that point of view I wouldn’t exchange it anymore.

In the office, we have now bought a carpet under the desk because our floor had already suffered.

I think there is a bit of truth in both experts... the important thing is what you want... and whether you can live with certain imperfections. The perfect floor doesn’t exist... everything has its pros and cons.
