Good day dear forum,

since we will soon start building our house without a basement, I have a question about the footing height (on a strip foundation). Attached is a drawing (not to scale). How high would you fill the top edge of the footing? We need to have an appropriate slope away from the house, just like the driveway.... About 17cm of screed will go on the footing (I think that will be the height of the step at the entrance). I would be very happy if you could say something about this.

Thank you very much and best regards

17 cm screed?! Please get an architect / planner. That sounds very misguided.

Hello BehaElja,

the 17cm refer to the total thickness (i.e. insulation, screed, etc....). We have a planner, but he says OK slab 30cm above the street, which seems too little to me...

As a rule, people say at least 1% slope. The 30 cm would therefore easily fit. If you often have floods or heavy rain, you can of course do even more.

We are also about 30 cm above street level with the base slab. For us, the top edge of the finished floor is 50 cm higher than the street according to the plan - so exactly like you.

With us, the top edge of the finished floor had to be 20 cm above the street.
