Hello,

We are planning to build a single-family house and have received an offer from a turnkey builder including a ground source heat pump and drilling. I once heard that it can happen that you might need to drill again after, for example, 40 years. Unfortunately, Google doesn't really provide much on this. Do you have any information about this? The turnkey builder said that such drilling lasts much longer if it is done well.

Thanks for your opinions and tips!

Martin

Hello,

our drilling company assured us that the drilling will last at least 4 generations. Assuming that one generation corresponds to 25 years, that would be about 100 years.

But I also think that it depends on the local soil conditions, the drilling, and ultimately the usage. So it is difficult to answer in general.

Best regards
Stefan

4 generations? Definitely not in writing, right? What kind of floor do you have?

A simple pump well can last a long time. If you have few sediments that clog the suction openings.
Of course, it can happen to you, especially in a large new housing development, that suddenly "everyone" neighbors also want something like that, and your water gets too warm... Or the groundwater drops so far that it is no longer enough for you.

No one can and will give you guarantees for a minimum service life, at least not to my knowledge.

We are talking about a brine pump, not a water pump.
