Hello everyone,

we want to build this year and already knew when buying the plot that it would probably come down to a pile foundation.
However, we want to have a soil survey done in advance and have received the first offer. Instead of about €1,500, we are supposed to pay about €3,000 for it.
This difference is explained by a peat content in the soil, as we already have an initial survey up to 5 meters deep. A pressure sounding would have to be carried out.
In the quotation from the pile foundation company, the pressure sounding is estimated at €975 net.

Has anyone perhaps had a soil survey by pressure sounding (with regard to a deep foundation) done for their house construction who can give us a price?

There will certainly be many more questions to follow and I hope to find people here who can contribute good ideas or share experiences.

Regards

Hello,

Experiences of third parties don't matter; what is important is what is stated in your contract! The company you commissioned will hardly orient itself to the competition in such a way that it possibly grants a discount ;)

Check your contract with the commissioned company and if you don’t trust yourself to do so – which would not be unusual – have a lawyer look at it. Only in this way will you make progress; if at all, a subsequent reduction of the agreed amount is possible through the contract itself.

Rhineland regards

um, thanks for the quick response.

I have not signed any contract yet, these are just preliminary offers.. the piling company made the offer with regard to several already piled neighboring plots.

But if it turns out that it is €3,800 extra for an independent soil survey, I will commission the company directly for piling, since the soil survey costs only €975 net there.

I was hoping that someone here could tell me why the offer for the soil survey suddenly amounts to €3,800 and not around €1,500, as the house building companies have independently indicated to me.

Best regards
