Hello everyone,

what are the general opinions/experiences regarding sockets directly below light switches or at 30cm? Is it completely based on personal preference or is one variant considered "modern"? The socket under the light switch makes plugging in and unplugging, for example, the vacuum cleaner easier and more back-friendly. However, some people are bothered by the appearance and prefer the light switch to be separate. How would you estimate the percentage distribution in new buildings?
Thank you very much

Quite simple, most have both. We do too, a few on top, a few on the bottom.

There aren't many arguments for it, everyone as they like.

The top ones with a lid, already look like 2 switches stacked on top of each other...

Most important is to use the sockets with increased touch protection right away. There, sockets at switch height are also not so ugly.

from what I have seen so far, these sockets do not look different, meaning those without increased touch protection. As far as I know, there is only an insulated cover inside the socket in front of the contacts, which only opens when both contacts are inserted simultaneously.

Correct. But if you have children involved now and you add those aftermarket things, it's always such a hassle, and B it doesn't look so nice. Besides, the plug fits completely into the socket.
