Snow guard noses or grids?

Hello everyone,

Two years ago, during our construction, we forgot the roof avalanche protection on the garden side. On the other side ([Zuwegung zur Haustür]) it was included in the developer’s service. There we received a continuous grid (approx. 13 m).
Now, on the other side, the question arises whether we should use hooks for hanging or also a grid. We received quotes for both yesterday. Hooks cost 300 EUR (200 pieces), the grid would cost 980 EUR.
Do you have any experience on your side whether hooks hold the snow as reliably on top as a grid? This is important to us because the children also play quite a bit in the garden during winter...
Are there any other aspects besides function and price that we should consider?

Optics. I tend to find noses nicer because they are less conspicuous. Snow guard grids range from Potthässlich (the version that existed 100 years ago) to sophisticatedly beautiful (expensive).

I can say little about the function; the only house with noses that I know has only been here for 2 years and has a fairly flat roof (around 30°). The noses will probably work better there than on a roof with DN > 40°.

I see the existence of both variants rather based on different tasks: grids are meant to hold the snow and are, in my opinion, suitable when the snow cover on the roof does not significantly exceed the height of the grid until melting; while noses are more intended to tear up sliding snow loads so that they do not start sliding as a solid sheet.

We have grids.

The roofer said "bos anneres is nes"
Gable roof over 40 degrees, snow is moderate here with us

I would make the type of snow guard dependent on the roof pitch, around 22 degrees nose, if more then grid.

Grids work better than noses. Visually, I also liked the grid or pipe system better than those nasty hooks everywhere. But I guess that's a matter of taste..
