Good morning everyone,

first of all, please excuse me if this topic seems like a duplicate to you, but I have not found a request like this in the forum so far. There are individual entries on the topic, but none that explicitly address our project. Thank you for your help.

In our new building, we want to paint both ceilings (concrete ceilings) and walls (gypsum plaster) directly. The walls will be produced by the builder to Q2. To achieve an acceptable result after painting, the painter offered us the following steps, which we will partly carry out ourselves:

a. Fill ceilings all over twice with dispersion filler (Megamur 606) and sand afterwards. This should achieve at least Q3, preferably Q4.
b. Possibly insert glass fiber filler fleece into the fresh filler to largely cover cracks.
c. Fill walls all over once with dispersion filler (Megamur 606) and sand afterwards. This should achieve at least Q3, preferably Q4.
d. Paint ceilings and walls with primer (seboprim Qualitäts Tiefengrund 7205 LF)
e. Paint ceilings and walls with diffusion-capable dispersion paint

Is the project basically sensible? What tips do you have?

Best regards,
Seol

If you want to proceed in a completely professional manner and refrain from gluing on [Malervlies] for cost reasons, that is absolutely correct. Karsten

Gypsum plaster Q2 walls were filled with filler putty where necessary, walls sanded, primed with deep primer, and then painted with white paint (Renovo Kristallweiß). Result is top! Ceiling, concrete filigree ceiling and also drywall ceilings, sanded, primed, painted white. The only drawback on the ceiling elements that were puttied is that the transition from puttied to non-puttied is somewhat visible.

I have indications that in our new building a lime-cement plaster and not a gypsum plaster may have been applied. I am currently trying to find this out. Do you have any layman’s tips on how I might be able to check this myself?

Is the use of the described dispersion putty still possible? In the datasheet for the product, I only read something about gypsum substrates and strongly suspect that something else must be used here. What about dispersion paint as the final coating?

The color is always good. As a mass, he then uses Stofill or similar. That stuff is all dirt cheap. One kilo 1.10.
