So, this serves as a "survey" to quickly gather different opinions. What do I think of flat roofs and what about pitched roofs? Which would you choose? Regards Uwe
So personally, I would always prefer a pitched roof. It looks better. It depends on whether it is a roof for a rental building or for your own. For rental buildings, I would always choose a flat roof, as it can be much easier and faster to clean with a high-pressure cleaner.
Furthermore, as I have already noticed, heating costs are lower in a well-insulated house with a flat roof since you do not have to heat the "large" attic, which is usually used as a storage room. However, you also do not have a storage room then!
The roof will be for my own house. And a storage room should definitely be included, however, I will also have a basement once everything is finally finished, and then the attic is going to be converted for the children.
So I had a complete floor built on my house instead of the sloping roof. Because of the flat roof, my children have a whole floor with 4 rooms (each one and a playroom for all 3 together) all to themselves. This way, my wife and I also have some peace and the children feel really comfortable.
*lol* only for the children!?! Whose house are you building? Yours or your children's?? You can fit just as many children into a house with a pitched roof and it also looks a lot better. It also makes much more of an impression, if only because of the size. So think about yourselves too and build a proper house!
