Hello, I would like to install a sliding door in a drywall wall(s) to be built for optical reasons (as a small highlight) and space reasons (small 60 sqm granny flat) - maybe even 2 doors, one to the bathroom and one to the bedroom. Technically, there are proven systems from reputable manufacturers for this. However, I wonder how soundproof these doors are and possibly resistant to moisture from the bathroom???? Do you have any practical experience with this??? Thank you and regards

Moisture from the bathroom is certainly not a problem as long as it is not continuously flooded. Noise, on the other hand, is more likely to be an issue, although, as almost always, it depends on the quality of the product and installation. Basically, I find sliding doors impractical to handle; I once had two and hardly ever used them. In my opinion, highlights can be created much more easily and also more cheaply in other ways.

A good floor plan and doors in the right place also help.

Nice, but that wasn’t the question!

They are just as tight or leaky as well as just as sensitive to sound and moisture as normal doors.

You just must not take anything cheap.

But you have the problem that in the area where the red disappears into the wall, you have no sound insulation.

Although I would also recommend planning in a way that you can use normal doors.

We had sliding doors to the bathroom in the holiday apartment. Despite solid construction, they were soundproof like a curtain.
